Transformation Lab
I was never the one that was very good in math, but by far this is one of the better lab reports I have done in my senior year. When I began to learn about transformations I was lost and I didn't really understand the topic we were being taught. When my pre-calculus teacher paired us up for this project I was happy that it was with my friend Anna because I knew together we would work it out until we understood it. I chose this piece because pre-calculus was one of the most difficult courses I've taken and I think this piece shows that I improved my understanding of topics in math.
Greenhouse Proposal
This project was one of the first projects we did in Participatory Budgeting. We were to split into groups in order to propose ideas/proposals for the Participatory Budgeting process. My group decided to pitch in the idea of having a greenhouse on the roof in order to make our school lunches more healthy and for students to get more involved of learning how to care for their environment. In our presentation we even talked about selling the foods that we would theoretically grow, to the residents of District 6. I think for one of the first projects of that class it was very interesting and fun to come up with our own ideas and present them.
This piece was done for my Spanish IV class while we were studying literature and the different types of stories there are. We studied and discussed short stories, flash-fiction, poetry, etc. At the end of the unit we had to write our own story of our journey to a planet and why our mission to sell/integrate something in this foreign planet failed. I really liked this project because although we had some kind of guidelines, we got to test our creative ability and come up with a whole story based on a trip to a foreign planet and aliens. It was probably one of my favorite assignments in that class.
